Air Force will close some roads to traffic today

Eglin Air Force Base will be closing some roads today for a test mission.

At some point between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the intersection of Bob Sikes Road (Range Road 213) and State Highway 285 will be shut down, a news release said.

The roads “are not generally closed for the entire duration of each mission,” the release said. “Closures will occur only when absolutely required for safety and will normally be a 20 to 30 minute period within the scheduled mission time.”

Between 1:30 and 3 p.m., the Air Force will close the intersection at Range Road 236 and the east end of Bob Sikes Road, the release said.

Range Road 257 at Camp Rudder will also be closed between 1:30 and 3 p.m., the release said, as will the intersection of Bob Sikes Road and State Route 87.

All Eglin range roads west of State Highway 85 extending to State Highway 87 are subject to closure between 1:30 and 3 p.m., the release said.
