Hurlburt traffic flow returning to normal

HURLBURT FIELD — With construction at Hurlburt Field’s main gate nearing completion, normal traffic flow resumed this weekend.

All lanes are open.

The 1st Special Operations Wing urges motorists during the morning rush hour to avoid using outbound lanes to enter, as was required during construction.

Improvements to the gate include:

• An additional lane for commercial vehicle inspections.

• A canopy above the entrance that permits guards to continue full-service duty during inclement weather.

• A fourth outbound lane on Cody Avenue from Independence Avenue to U.S. Highway 98.

• Pop-up barriers to prevent unauthorized access.

The project should be completed by March.
