Bob Sikes students suspended for bringing knives to school
Two male students from Bob Sikes Elementary School were caught with knives Tuesday and suspended from school. The boys said they had shown each other the knives on the school bus that morning, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office report.
School officials told the deputy that one of the boys, who is 11, had made a verbal statement a week or so ago “threatening fellow students to the effect that he would slit their throats.”
After a “hunting style knife” was discovered in his binder, it was confiscated and he was sent home.
The second student was a 7-year-old boy who is in the third grade, according to the report. He had a “simple pocket style knife” that the deputy found in his shoe, the report noted.
That too was confiscated and the boy was sent home with his mother.
