Two women sought in DeFuniak Springs robbery
DeFuniak Springs police are hot on the trail of a woman they believe committed two armed robberies Sunday.
Myra Amanda Potter, 23, had been identified by another suspect in the crime and on surveillance tape as the woman who used a knife to hold up two convenience stores, Police Chief Mike Adkinson said.
“We feel pretty confident we’ll be able to apprehend Ms. Potter in the near future,” Adkinson said.
Another woman, Beatrice Downing, 46, has been arrested and charged as a principal to armed robbery, Adkinson said.
A third woman, known only by her street name of “Cindy,” is being sought, Adkinson said. A fourth is cooperating with police.
Authorities believe Potter did the hold-ups, but the others were involved to some degree.
The first robbery took place at about 4:30 a.m. at the Tom Thumb store at U.S. Highway 331 and Live Oak Avenue, a news release said. The second was at 6:09 a.m. at the Chevron station at U.S. 331 South and Interstate 10.
In both cases a woman entered the store, brandished a knife and fled with an undetermined amount of money, according to the news release.
