Gulf Coast Triathlon
PANAMA CITY - The 26th edition of the Gulf Coast Triathlon, one the longest standing events of any kind in Bay County, will be held on May 10.
The race includes a half-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run.
The athletes and the Gulf Coast Triathlon Foundation give back to the community through various charitable organizations, non-profits and youth sports. Most in Bay County think of a traffic jam on a Saturday morning in May when they hear Gulf Coast Triathlon, but their tolerance over the last two decades and the help of hundreds of volunteers has allowed the triathlon to give thousands to worthy causes, more than $200,000 in the last five years alone.
Registration starts on Thursday, May 8 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Boardwalk Beach Resort Conference Center. Registration continues on Friday, May 9 from noon to 9 p.m. Several events take place at the conference center during this time, including a Sports Exposition a Pre-Race Dinner and Athlete Meeting. The race kicks off at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 10. For a full schedule of events, go to http://www.gulfcoasttriathlon.com.
