Blackwater Heritage Christmas Home Tour
The Bagdad Village Preservation Association will present the annual Blackwater Heritage Christmas Home Tour, sponsored by McCombs Electric, on Dec. 1 from noon until 6 p.m.
This year's tour - “Holiday Magic” - has an exciting new format where patrons ride the “Christmas Trolley” and explore the historic village at their leisure.
The tour begins with registration at Bagdad Elementry and features historic homes and a church beautifully decorated for the season. Guests will be greeted by amateur historians, in period costumes, ready to take them on a journey through the homes history.
One of the best known homes on this year’s tour is the Thompson House, built between 1858 and 1860, historically noted for a message written on the wall by union troops that camped in the home during the Civil War.
Advance tickets are $20 or $25 the day of the event, or $10 for children 12 and under. The tickets include the tour, “Christmas Trolley,” homemade soup and salad lunch, and live music. Tickets are available at:
Bagdad Village Museum
The Copper Possum
Tops TV & Appliance
Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce
There will also be quilting demonstrations and a display of wooden boats to honor the history of the shipbuilding industry in Bagdad.
