RHS mentor at Millville Elementary
Rutherford High School students are participating in a program to mentor elementary students at Millville Elementary School.
The Rutherford students are part of a nationally recognized program called the Teen Trendsetters Reading Mentors (TTRM). Each week, 27 RHS mentors, spend an hour each tutoring students at Millville Elementary.
This program recruits, trains, and places groups of high school students in
an elementary school to serve as tutors and mentors to children. High school students are able to give back to their community, engage in a rewarding experience with their friends and classmates, and assist a child to become a fluent reader.
The Rutherford teens meet once a week with their students. Ange Calhoun and Bill Doyle are the TTRM Program Advisors at Rutherford.
