Starbucks teams with charity to collect school supplies
Take Stock in Children, Florida’s premier mentoring and scholarship program, has partnered with Starbucks Coffee Company to host its second annual holiday community program, now through January 3, at participating Starbucks stores across Florida.
“The success of last year’s program is evidence of how wonderful this partnership is for Take Stock in Children,” said Mike Weinstein, president of Take Stock in Children. “With the support of Starbucks and its customers, we are able to help thousands of children. Every school supply donated will help an at-risk child reach academic success.”
Starbucks will collect new school supplies to support Take Stock in Children and Starbucks ongoing commitment to education. Part of what makes the Starbucks Holiday School Supply Drive special is that it helps children, families and schools get the supplies they need for the remainder of the school year.
“A strong education helps us build stronger communities,” said Jerry Thorpe, Starbucks Coffee Company. “This holiday season we are hoping for even greater success and to take further the gift of education offered to many underprivileged kids by Take Stock in Children.”
Customers are invited to drop off new, unwrapped school supplies at local Starbucks stores. Recommended gifts include paper, pencils, scientific calculators, notebooks, backpacks, 3 ring binders, folders, glue sticks, planners, etc.
Locally, you can drop off school supplies at the Watercolor Starbucks and Rosemary Beach Starbucks.
Take Stock in Children is an award-winning program that provides scholarships, mentors, and hope for a better future to Florida’s most deserving children. A public-private partnership, this school-based mentoring organization has positively impacted the lives of more than 13, 000 children.
