Meth Lab Found Inside Winnebago
A Freeport man was recently arrested during a routine traffic stop after authorities discovered a mobile meth lab in his Winnebago.
Walton County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested
David M. Sawyer, 61, of Freeport, was driving a gray and white Winnebago on Hwy 3280 when he was stopped for expired vehicle registration stickers.
A Walton County Sheriff's Office Canine Unit provided backup of the traffic stop and the narcotic detection dog alerted the deputy that narcotics were possibly present in the vehicle.
Methamphetamine was discovered and Sawyer was taken into custody. Further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of several chemicals and paraphernalia used in the production of methamphetamine. Sawyer was traveling with an inactive mobile meth lab.
Sawyer is charged with the following:
- One count of trafficking methamphetamine
- One count of possession of methamphetamine
- One count of unlawful possession of listed chemicals
- Two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia
Sawyer is being held at the Walton County Jail and has a bond amount of $200,000.
