Crestview Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident

A Crestview man was killed Saturday in a deadly motorcycle accident.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report, Leland Jay Aslinger, 24, was traveling down County Road 393 just south of Jax Rabbit Road in Dorcas at a high rate of speed around 7:15 p.m. when he ran off the road onto the west shoulder.

Aslinger tried to hit his brakes before he skid 117 feet, the report stated. Authorities believe that his motorcycle overturned several times before making a crash landing in the woods.

Aslinger, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
