Howl-O-Ween Party at Alys Beach

ALYS BEACH - A spokesdog announced today that Alys Beach will host a “Howl-O-Ween” party on Saturday, Oct. 27. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge in Freeport.

“We’re very excited to host this charity event for animals in need,” said Kelli Arnold, a spokesperson for humans. “Dogs are an especially important part of our town life here at Alys Beach, and this is a great way for us to show them our support and appreciation.”

Party activities will include events, such as:

- Bobbing for Tennis Balls

- Dog bone stacking contest

- Best trick contest

- Doggie caricatures

- Lick-or-Treat Kissing Booth

Each dog is asked to make a $15 charitable donation to directly benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge (http://www.aarflorida.com). The party will also feature a pumpkin patch and pumpkin painting activities for humans.

Despite the jubilation however, not everyone was pleased by the announcement. When asked to comment, a spokescat simply arched his back, hissed and then fled wildly out of the room.

The party will be held on the lawn adjacent to Fonville Press, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. A “Monster Mutt Parade” will begin at 2:45 p.m., with winners being selected in a range of distinguished categories, including:

- Best Owner-Dog Duo

- Best Movie Duo

- Most Original Costume

Dogs are encouraged to ask their owners to RSVP as soon as possible by calling Kelli — a human — at (850) 213-5517. Humans are welcome to attend.
