Saturday in the Park this weekend in Valparaiso

VALPARAISO - The Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida will host its 32nd Annual Saturday in the Park festival this Saturday at the museum and in Perrine Park in Old Valparaiso.
   
Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
   
This popular, springtime community festival showcases the museum and its efforts to preserve and promote Northwest Florida history. It is sponsored by the City of Valparaiso and Vanguard Bank and Northrop Grumman.
   
This year the event will feature many new artists and craftspeople, children's crafts with the Red Hat Bayou Belles and A. C. Moores, Walton Guard Civil War Reenactors, Shire of Phoenix Glade Medieval Re-enactors and the Valparaiso Garden Club Juried Show and Plant Sale.
   
Entertainment stages will include performances by:

  • Emerald Coast Barbershop Singers
  • Alibi (classic rock)
  • Pelican Pickers
  • Niceville Noodlers
  • Cheryl Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Art
  • Christian Celli Club
  • Hawaiian Dancers
  • High Steppers
  • Drake Irish Dancers
  • Pyramid Players
  • Rocky Bayou Church Worship & Choir
  • Eglin Salsa Dancers
  • No Regrets (folk and family music)
  • A-Dance Studio
  • JazzyBlueDance 

Also performing will be Rocky Bayou Christian School, Ruckel Middle School, Lewis Middle School, and Valparaiso Elementary School. Puppet shows will be provided by (P)Raising Hands and Hands Across Eglin. Miss Ladybug and Uncle Hyphen will tell stories.
   
Traditional craft demonstrations will include woodcarving by the Emerald Coast Woodturners Guild, flint knapping, basketry, bobbin lace making, tatting and more.
   
The event will be preceded by a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Kids Walk sponsored by Totten & Totten, beginning at 8 a.m. Applications are available at active.com or at the Heritage Museum, 115 Westview Ave.
