Taming of the Shrew at OWC

The classic battle of the sexes can be seen with Okaloosa-Walton College’s production of “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare, on March 21-24 in the Sprint Theater at The Arts Center at OWC.

OWC’s production stays true to all of Shakespeare’s original language but offers a modern twist by setting the action in the present rather than in Elizabethan times. Director Clint Mahle hopes the choice to use modern day costumes will help make Shakespeare’s comedic masterpiece more accessible to today’s audience.

Real-life husband and wife Bob and Christa Whittaker star. The OWC production is described as rated “PG” for Shakespeare’s earthy authentic language and concepts. Tickets are available from the OWC Arts Center box office for $15 adult and $10 for students grades K through 12. Show times are Wednesday, March 21 through Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m.

OWC students may attend the production free of charge with a student ID. Student nights are Monday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 20. Tickets may be purchased by phone from the box office at 729-6000 or in-person from the box office window.
