New Art Exhibitions at OWC Mattie Kelly Arts Center

OWC Art Center

Two art exhibits will be displayed Jan. 13 through Feb. 21 at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center galleries at Okaloosa-Walton College in Niceville.

McIlroy Gallery

On loan from the Brogan Museum of Art and Science in Tallahassee, “Self Taught” from the Hill Collection features work by artists of the Southeastern region of the United States. Generally, not formally educated, self-taught artists express themselves individually and go beyond traditional training and materials.

This show integrates 19 talented artists’ works.

There are 34 objects in media including paintings, collage, drawings and mixed-media assemblage.

Holzhauer Gallery

“Charles Gatewood Paintings” exhibit takes simplicity to a new dimension with his moody, yet tranquil oil paintings of quiet interiors and solemn exterior scenes. His paintings are done in oil on canvas or panel, either which has been prepared with acrylic gesso or white lead oil priming.

OWC Mattie Kelly Arts Center gallery hours are Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. The galleries are also open 90 minutes prior to these evening performances:

Jan. 9 - “Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight”

Jan. 30 - “Annie”

Feb. 1 - “Ring of Fire”

Feb. 20 - “The Producers”

The galleries are closed Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Day.
