Police dog bites unsuspecting jogger

A jogger was bitten by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office police dog Friday near the Choctawhatchee High School bus ramp.

According to an incident report, K-9 Joker was released by its handler, a deputy, to urinate. The deputy looked away from the dog and, a moment later, heard the victim scream, the report continued.

Joker had latched onto the back side of the man’s upper left arm.

Wounds to the jogger were two canine teeth punctures, two abrasions on the arm and a knee scrape. The knee injury happened as the man fell to the ground while Joker attacked.

The victim was treated at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
