Houchins 2008 Chair of Board
Kathy Houchins is the 2008 Chair of the Board for the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.
"We are about to begin a new year full of fun and excitement but with a strong commitment to our community and to our businesses as well as to our military neighbors," said Houchins.
She went on to state that the theme for 2008 would be the enrichment of the business, community and military environment.
Houchins is a native Floridian whom has been the General Manager of the Breakers Condominium of Fort Walton Beach (Okaloosa Island) for the past 10 years.
Kathy has served on the Fort Walton Beach Chamber's Tourism Committee 2000-2003, has chaired the Mardi Gras on the Island Committee 2003 and 2004. She was appointed to the Chamber's Board of Directors in 2004 and served as Vice Chairman of the Special Events Division in 2005 and the Membership Division in 2006. She was named Chair Elect in 2007 to take office in January 2008.
Houchins currently serves on the Citizens Advisory Board through the TDC of Okaloosa County and is a highly regarded advocate of the Continuum of Care, which gives opportunities to the homeless in Okaloosa County.
Houchins is the reigning 2007-08 Queen of Shimron Temple, Daughters of the Nile, the ladies side of the Shriners of North America serving 22 Shriner Children's Hospitals across the United States, Canada and Mexico. She is also a Past Chairman of Fishing Has No Boundaries in Hayward, WI, which is an organization that provides fishing opportunities to physically challenged children and adults.
She is also a proud member of the Krewe of Chameleons, of which the members are actively involved in the many local community parades and assist various charitable organizations.
