Stabbing sentence
A Freeport man will serve five years in prison in connection to the stabbing death of a Shalimar man last fall.
Matthew Godwin pleaded guilty June 21 to attempted manslaughter. Godwin, his father Terry Godwin and Richard Harrington, all of Freeport, are accused of stabbing and beating Terance Keefe to death outside Cash’s Lounge on U.S. 331 in Freeport on Sept. 16.
Terry Godwin, 45, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and is serving 10 years in prison. Harrington is scheduled for trial Aug. 6 on second-degree murder charges.
