Man, 20, charged for sex with girl, 15

DESTIN — A man faces felony charges for the lewd or lascivious battery of a child after lawmen say he had sex with a 15-year-old girl, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff ’s Office.

The girl and the defendant, 20-year-old Justin Alan Avary, of Destin, told investigators the sex was consensual and that the girl had claimed she was 18 years old.

The girl was listed as a runaway/missing person when Avary picked her up and took her to his father’s home.

She and Avary had been corresponding for three months, during which time she made arrangements for him to pick her up, according to the report.

Avary was arrested Thursday and at first denied having sex with the girl.
