23rd Annual Fun Fest on Navarre Beach
The Navarre Fun Fest, sponsored in part by EmeraldCoast.com and Northwest Florida Daily News, will celebrate its 23rd anniversary June 30 and July 1 on Navarre Beach with fireworks, arts and crafts, live entertainment, a children’s area, 5K Run/Walk, Corporate Challenge, food and fun.
Fun Fest Chairman Chris Shelnut promises activities suitable for attendees of all ages this year.
"We want everyone to come out and enjoy Navarre Beach," he said. "We have our usual line-up of family fun and free entertainment, with the added excitement of featuring a well-known national recording artist leading up to a spectacular fireworks show over the beach.”
In years past the event has been located in the Navarre Park, limiting the size of the entertainment stage and room for festival-goers. With the event back on the beach, the committee has taken the event to a new level by featuring well-known 1980s band, The Georgia Satellites.
In anticipation of larger crowds, the Chamber of Commerce has added another new feature to the event — a free parking and shuttle service. There will be no less than two designated public parking areas on the mainland, with shuttle service running every 30 minutes to help festival-goers avoid the traffic and limited beach parking.
Additional Fun Fest activities are now open for ongoing registration - the annual Corporate Challenge on Saturday afternoon and the 5th Annual Wal-Mart Fun Fest 5K. The 3.1 mile run/walk will be Sunday, July 1 at 7 a.m., starting and finishing behind Regions Bank in Navarre. To register and pay electronically, runners can log on to www.active.com.
Official event posters are available for sale at the Navarre Chamber of Commerce office, and will also be available for sale by the artist on Fun Fest weekend. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist, Judy Schillingburg.
Festival hours are Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
