Goofy wishing well downed

By NICK TOMECEK, Florida Freedom Newspapers

FORT WALTON BEACH -  The wishing well that has swallowed countless golf balls at the Goofy Golf putt-putt course was demolished last weekend after a driver of a truck fell asleep at the wheel then jumped the curb, according to Goofy Golf manager Doug Griffith.

"He said he saw a deer," said Griffith recalling what owner Bob Fleskes told him.

Griffith said that the well was built in 1958 when the course opened.

Fleskes told him that the well will be rebuilt in September, just in time for the Goofy Golf 50th anniversary the following month.

Until is is rebuilt Griffith said that customers can play another hole of their choosing.
