The Zoo has a new giraffe

Colby is on loan from another zoo for a breeding program

GULF BREEZE - A longnecked visitor who likes to eat leaves will have a temporary home in the area.

The Zoo Northwest Florida has received a 12-year-old male giraffe named Colby. Colby is 18 feet tall and weighs about 2,000 pounds, according to a news release.

Colby is on loan from a zoo in South Florida for a breeding program, the release stated.

Colby will go on display for feeding May 10, but he will be publicly unveiled at a Longneck Party preview from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $30 per person and $50 for couples. The price includes admission and two drink tickets.
