Con artists using quick change tactic

Investigators are looking for quick change artists who tried to scam cashiers out of money.

It is believed that two men conned one Publix cashier in Destin out of $300 May 5, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report.

On that occasion, one of the men bought bananas and a pack of gum for $1.83 and used a $100 to pay for it. He then confused the cashier during the transaction to get more money from her. The other man stood at the end of the cash register as a lookout.

The two then tried to hit up the Publix in Sandestin, but the cashier refused to help them.
