Destin Marine looks to save his Corvette from being sold
Every Marine is a leader, and to put others first is the nature of the Marines.
Micah Berg, a veteran United States Marine Corps Sergeant who recently returned from Iraq, has pledged to sell his esteemed 2002 Black Z06 Corvette if he cannot help the North Florida Region Porsche Club raise $100,000 during the club’s second annual Charity Car Show.
The event, which will take place at Destin Commons on Oct. 13, will benefit the expansion of heart and vascular services at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
The rules for the Charity Car Show are simple. Each participant’s car will be displayed at Destin Commons and is challenged to raise funds for Sacred Heart Foundation. The participant raising the largest donation will have the winning car and will receive a gift of appreciation from the sponsors. It is recommended that funds be raised in advance although spectators can vote for their favorite car with a donation at the show.
Sergeant Berg’s mantra is, “If I can’t help them, then I will join them.”
If Sergeant Berg cannot help raise the $100,000, then he will sell his prized Corvette and buy a Porsche. This Iraqi veteran believes he will be able to save his Corvette by receiving $100 from 1,000 people in the name of charity.
Donors should make their checks payable to the Sacred Heart Foundation with the notation “For: Save the Marine.” Mail checks to Sacred Heart Foundation, 7700 US Highway 98 West, Ste. 300, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32549. Credit Cards are also accepted by calling (850) 278-3700.
