Motorists Encounter Delays on Escambia Bay Bridges

PENSACOLA - Beginning Starting Wednesday, Dec. 26 and continuing through Jan. 31, 2008, motorists traveling I-10), eastbound and westbound across the Escambia Bay Bridges will encounter intermittent lane restrictions while crews complete work on the east end of the eastbound bridge and on the westbound lanes leading up to the Scenic Highway Ramps.

Daytime closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and nighttime lane closure will occur between 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Work activities will take place as weather permits.

Motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limit and to use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Work activities will not take place between Saturday, Dec. 22, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. Both bridges (east and westbound) will remain open during the Christmas holiday rush.

The reconstruction of the I-10 bridges is being completed by the design-build team of contractors Tidewater Skanska of Virginia Beach, Va.; Flatiron Constructors of Longmont, Colo.; and design firm PB Americas, Inc., of Tampa.
